It's no secret that the Philadelphia Phillies in the market for versatile infielders, as some of his old veterans were injured. Mike Aviles qualifies as such, and although currently projects as a shortstop for the Red Sox game, Nick Carfado the Boston Globe reported this morning that could be available this spring, when Boston decides to go with Jose Iglesias. This Carfado led to speculation that the Phillies would be a player Aviles as the Red Sox see him as expendable.

Iglesias has been impressive this spring and although it has much to offer with the bat, his glove is clear Major League ready. For this reason, a number around the Red Sox believe that Iglesias could break camp as the club's starting shortstop.

This would infielders average Red Sox in three churches in the state, Aviles and Nick Punto. With point line backup infielder in Boston, Avilés would be useful as churches claim a starting job. Carfado believe that the Phillies would be interested in Avilés, when it became available.
